Japan’s oldest shopping street, which has continued for over 200 years since the Edo period. The approximately 250-meter long street is lined with nearly 90 shops selling Kaminari Okoshi and Ningyo-yaki, making the path to the main temple a colorful one. Why not enjoy sightseeing in Asakusa while eating your way around?
The Kaminarimon is the outer of two large entrance gates that ultimately leads to the Senso-ji in Asakusa, Tokyo, Japan. The gate, with its lantern and statues, is popular with tourists. The first gate was built in 941, but the current gate dates from 1960, after the previous gate was destroyed in a fire in 1865.
